Project Goal

The Rescue App is designed to help pet owners find their lost animals quickly and efficiently. The app allows users to:

  1. Register their pets in advance.
  2. Report a lost pet in a few simple steps.
  3. Report a found pet by taking a photo and adding details.
  4. Search for lost pets via an interactive map with filters.
  5. Communicate with other users via chat to facilitate pet reunions.

UI & UX Design Approach

  • Emotional & Urgent → The design prioritizes clarity, speed, and accessibility, reducing friction in a stressful situation.
  • Warm & Trustworthy → A friendly, pet-centric interface using soft corners, calming colors, and intuitive icons.
  • Action-Oriented → Large CTAs, simplified flows, and instant access to crucial features.

App Navigation – Bottom Menu

The app features a bottom navigation bar for quick access to key functions:

  1. Home → User’s activity & pet status updates.
  2. Chat → Direct messaging with other pet owners.
  3. Map → Visual representation of lost & found pets (tap pins to reveal details).
  4. Add (+) → To report a lost pet or add a found pet.

User Flows Presented

1. Adding a Lost Pet (Step-by-Step Flow)

Goal: Allow users to quickly report a lost pet, increasing the chances of finding it.

🔹 Step 1: Open “Add” Button

  • User taps the “+” button in the bottom menu.
  • Chooses “Report Lost Pet”.

🔹 Step 2: Fill Out Basic Details

  • Select the lost pet from their registered animals.
  • Upload a recent photo of the pet.
  • Set the last known location (manual entry or map pin).

🔹 Step 3: Add Key Information

  • Date & time pet was last seen.
  • Pet’s name, breed, size, colors.
  • Contact method for responses.

🔹 Step 4: Confirm & Publish

  • User reviews all details.
  • Submits the lost pet report.
  • Pet appears on the map instantly with a special “Lost” marker.

2. Searching for a Pet on the Map (with Filters)

Goal: Help users check if their lost pet has been reported by someone else.

Step 1: Tap the “Map” Button

  • The user opens the map view.
  • Sees all reported lost & found pets as interactive pins.

Step 2: Apply Filters

  • User filters pets based on:
    Type (Dog, Cat, Other)
    Time frame (last 24h, last 3 days, last week)
    Location range (Nearby, City-wide, Custom radius)
    Appearance filters (Color, Size, Breed)

Step 3: View Pet Details

  • User taps a map pin → A popup appears with pet info.
  • If it’s their pet, they contact the person who found it via chat.

Outcome

This intuitive UX/UI design makes the Rescue App:
Fast & simple → Reports take seconds, reducing stress.
Visually clear → Map & filters streamline searches.
Action-oriented → Immediate access to chat & contact features.
